Hartley. Redemption is a novel based on true events, about a young adult who seeks her birth family, but must first win over a narcissistic, lawless stepfather and take on land grabbers who drained swampland to create highly fertile crop land, forcing smaller farmers out of business. During historic rains in 1927, levees collapsed; more than a million homes were buried in an epic catastrophe as science, politics, race, honor and high society clash.
